Registration of Pets

All dogs and cats maintained on the installation must be registered at the VTF within 3 working days of moving into Family housing or acquiring the animal(s). The animals must be current on vaccinations in accordance with Redstone Arsenal Regulation 40-1. Proof of rabies vaccination and microchip must be presented at the time of registration. On-Post Housing may limit the number and breed of pets that can live in on-post housing. Contact on-post housing for more information at  (256)400-5940.

Health Certificates

Health certificates are required for some interstate and all international travel. Certificates required for airline travel are valid for ten (10) days only. The animal must be examined at the time of health certificate issuance. International travel regulations can be confusing and vary by country. Please contact us as soon as you know you and your pet will be travelling internationally or to Hawaii so that we can help you determine what requirements are applicable to your pet. In some cases, this process can take more than a month, so it is imperative to contact us as soon as possible.

At this time there is no Military Veterinarian at the VTF which prevents us from being able to endorse USDA international health certificates.  For Families on orders OCONUS with pets please contact the clinic as soon as possible to discuss options for obtaining an International Health Certificate. Please call (256)876-2441 or email: redstonevet3583@gmail.com
