Army Public Health Nursing

Mission & Vision

Army Public Health Nursing preserves the strength of our community and creates a healthy environment by ensuring the delivery of Essential Public Health Services on Redstone Arsenal.

Army Public Health Nursing is dedicated to sustaining community health through health promotion and disease prevention. We provide services that are tailored to prevent the spread of disease and increase community health education.

Services Provided

All TRICARE beneficiaries are eligible for services. If APHN services are required, your Primary Care provider will contact APHN for appointments, follow-up testing, and monitoring.


Tuberculosis Surveillance

APHN provide testing, education, and case management for individuals with positive tuberculin skin tests. We also conduct contact investigations.

Communicable Disease Reporting and Surveillance

APHN provide individual education, risk reduction counseling, contact interviews, follow-up testing, and required reporting on all communicable illnesses to include sexually transmitted infections.


HIV Program

APHN provides confidential notification, counseling and case management for all active duty & activated reserve Soldiers infected with the HIV virus. We advise installation commanders on all HIV issues. We provide community education on HIV prevention.

 
Child and Youth Services (CYS) Program

APHN provides health consultation services to all Army Child, Youth, and School Services facilities on Redstone Arsenal. We ensure the safety and health of children attending these programs by educating the CYSS staff on pertinent health issues and conducting monthly health sanitation inspections. We also provide special health consultation to the Special Needs Accommodation Process (SNAP) team for the care of children with special health care needs attending CYSS programs.

 
Influenza Campaign

APHN serves as the coordinator for the Fox Army Health Center (FAHC) Flu Campaign. APHNs provide vaccine training to medical staff, coordinates Flu Campaign schedule for Redstone Arsenal, and serves as the OIC at each event.
